Think Bubbles (?)

Τα καλοκαίρια υπάρχουν δύο είδη πιτσιρικιών, αυτά που μπορείς να τους δώσεις ένα βιβλίο ή ένα παιχνίδι και να σε αφήσουν λίγο ήσυχο και αυτά που δεν ησυχάζουν ποτέ! Εγώ ανήκα στην δεύτερη κατηγορία... Τα μεσημέρια ο αδερφός μου διάβαζε κόμικς, εγώ πάλι όχι...Μια φορά είχα πάρει ένα από τα δικά του (Ντόναλντ), στο οποίο η ιστορία είχε ως εξής: Ο Θείος Σκρούτζ επισκεπτόμενος τον Κύρο Γρανάζη μαθαίνει για μια φόρμουλα την οποία μπορεί κάποιος να πιεί και να "διαβάζει" την σκέψη του άλλου...Αποφασίζει να το δοκιμάσει και απογοητεύεται όταν καταλαβαίνει πόσο αντιπαθητικός είναι σε όλους γύρω του… Στο κόμικ η «σκέψη» του κάθε ένα απεικονιζόταν με το γνωστό συννεφάκι πάνω από το κεφάλι του, το οποίο συνήθως έγραφε κάτι αντίθετο από αυτό που έλεγε…

Σήμερα σκεπτόμουν πόσο κρύβεται ο κόσμος και πόσο φοβάται να πεί τα όσα σκέφτεται.Ο παραληρισμός μπορεί να μην είναι τόσο καθαρός, αλλά αν είχε διαβάσει κανείς το συγκεκριμένο τεύχος θα κατάλάβαινε...

Φαντάσου να κυκλοφορούσαμε όλοι με ενα think bubble πάνω από το κεφάλι μας?

Pop Culture (?)

I believe that there is an ongoing, never ending controversy between Pop Art and art critics...Pop Art is the art that uses elements of popular culture, and also often uses elements of commercial art and advertising.

We all think of Andy Warhol and his can of Campel Soup when we think of Pop Art, since we believe that Pop Art belongs back to the 60's, but I believe that it is an ongoing movement, that represents what is being "popular" at any specific moment in time. Reading and evaluating art critics, someone can see that there is a tendency from critics to judge artists very strictly as soon as they start becoming popular. There are many examples of contemporary artists that were introduced by critics as "promising", but after a big successful exhibition, as soon as their name became popular, critics became strict and judge their work differently.

David La Chapelle is a celebrity photographer.. His portfolio is unique...Where else could someone see Quentin Taratino and Madonna, next to Michael Jackson and Mohammad Ali? David La Chapelle started back in the 80s in New York, when Andy Warhol gave him his first job as a photographer for Interview Magazine..

Allthough he became popular with his magazine pictures, he know calls the years he spent shooting for magazines, his "School years". He says that he had always used photography as a means to try to understand the world and the paradox that is his life. 

In a parallel time, these photographs were shot while I was interested in all forms of Pop Art, and I believe that still, these pictures are a stepping stone, from the 1990's to the 00's, like a social criticism, that moves from consumerism, to minimalism...

Πριν μήνες παρακολούθησα ένα σεμινάριο σχετικό με τα Media Trends. Se kapoia fasi loipon o isigitis..έδειξε ένα slide το οποίο σήμερα απλά χρησιμοποώ για άλλο σκοπό, γιατί μου έκανε κλικ...

Πρώτη φορά άκουσα το όνομα του Jeff Koons όταν πήγα για πρώτη φορά στην Νέα Υόρκη και είδα ένα από τα γλυπτά του κάνοντας την ερώτηση, "Αυτό ποιανού είναι?". Μου άρεσε πολύ το συγκεκριμένο μπαλονένιο λουλούδι, ήταν φωτεινό, έντονο, χαρούμενο, κόκκινο και γυάλιζε, και απλά σε έκανε να θέλεις να το ακουμπήσεις!

Έμαθα ότι ο Jeff Koons είναι ένας σύγχρονος αμερικάνος καλλιτέχνης ο οποίος δημιουργεί μεγάλα ατσάλινα γλυπτά τα οποία μοιάζουν με αυτά τα ζωάκια από μπαλόνια που βλέπεις...και επιπλέον γυαλίζουν!

Ορισμένοι κριτικοί τον θεωρούν τον "Βασιλιά του κιτς", και έχουν γίνει ακόμα και διαμαρτυρίες όταν έργα του εκθέθηκαν στις Βερσαλίες το 2008, παρόλο που έχει κάνει εκθέσεις στις μεγαλύτερες γκαλερί του κόσμου..και τα έργα του είναι τα πιο ακριβά έργα που έχουν δημοπρατηθεί ποτέ από –εν ζωή- καλλιτέχνη..

Λίγο να διαβάσεις στο Internet, υπάρχει πολύ ένταση υπέρ του ή εναντίον του...Εγώ πάλι πιστεύω ότι ιδιαίτερα όταν τα έργα του βρίσκονται στο δρόμο...σε κάνουν να σταματήσεις και να θες να τα ακουμπήσεις (και όλοι αυτό κάνουν, το παρατήρησα...), οπότε είμαι καλυμμένη...

Friends...

"Sometimes I am really hard on myself...having spent a lot of time on my own during last week (down with the "anti-social" illness named flu), I was thiking about my recent behaviors...so many things are changing around me and I cannot help but wonder if I am taking the right decisions, or if I am saying the right thing..."

Friends...I love it when people surprise me in that way! It may be as simple as saying something in a familiar way...or it can be as simple as just a nod...but I love it whenever my friends surprise me and show me that we connect in that specific way! I had a talk with a friend today..just drinks after office...and this time it was just a nod! reassuring...

It feels so stupid looking up the word "friend" in a dictionary...it seems so wrong...

"Friend"...a person with whom you are acquainted ....a person you know well and regard with affection and trust..

In my terms....my friends keep me balanced!
